Today, zoom and review on Flatsome : An e-commerce theme for WooCommerce with more than 100.000 sales on Themeforest!
If you stumbled upon this article, it’s probably because you’re looking for a theme for your WooCommerce store? There are hundreds of them and it is not easy to know which one to choose.
I’ve gotten into the habit of trying to do quite a bit of themes for Shopify, most of them paying even if there are some excellent free themes. On the WooCommerce side, I’ve been thinking a little bit more about it lately.
I ran into Flatsome during my research and I must say that this versatile theme impresses me with the features it offers. Discover in this article the details of this incredible theme!
Flatsome, the theme with 100,000 sales!
As I said in introduction, I was impressed by this WooCommerce theme. I first looked at the demos offered – which I advise you to do – and all the options available are huge.
There are, at the time of writing this article, 19 pre-designed integration templates to create a professional shop in a few clicks, without any technical knowledge.
You’ll find classic shop templates with more complex designs with carousels and transition animations.
It is therefore a theme that can be adapted to mobile and tablet formats with special SEO optimization with support for Rich Snippets, multilingual translation and a Very efficient Page Builder.
If you don’t know what it is, a Page Builder allows you to create pages easily with drag and drop!
Let’s take a look at how this WordPress page builder works and what it has to offer.
Start with the Flatsome theme
If you want to know how to install Flatsome, it’s very simple even if it’s quite different from what you’re used to. Once you have finished downloading the theme and installed it on your WordPress site, you will be taken to the configuration page:
It’s very intuitive and the configuration page takes you from activation, through the installation of the required plugins to the creation of the demo content. All these steps are optional, but are very useful.
Once it’s good, the last step is to choose the famous starting template I was telling you about (you’ll be able to customize it):
I personally went on the first template which is very professional and I decided to import demo data!
Immediately after, it’s time to configure WooCommerce and download all the plugins that Flatsome requires to work optimally.
If you have never configured WooCommerce before it’s very simple with the configuration help:
If you chose the first design template like me, you will find yourself on the interface similar to the first demo. So we can move on.
Customize the Flatsome theme
One of the main assets of this fabulous theme is its ability to be fully customizable so that no two designs are alike, and this is achieved, among other things, through advanced options.
Here is the very complete customization menu of the Flatsome theme in WordPress :
Every aspect of the shop can now be changed very simply thanks to the different menus. Let’s take the concrete example that I want to modify the top of my shop, the header. All I have to do is go to the dedicated section:
And then a very interesting thing happened, Flatsome’s Page Builder appears at the bottom. Thanks to it, you can arrange desktop and mobile elements as you wish with drag and drop.
To go further, the numerous sub-menus on the left side allow you to change every detail of your shop (down to the last pixel, really!).
But it’s only for the menu section of the site. Here are the other elements that you can modify :
- The general style of the store (colour, typography, custom style)
- The layout of the different sections (shop, blog, site)
- The footer
- Widgets
And all this without any technical knowledge. Of course, if you know a little bit, you can always add an HTML / CSS touch.
Setting up a portfolio
The Flatsome e-commerce theme integrates a portfolio system to display for example a range from your product catalogue in a lookbook. The power of the Page Builder will be very useful:
You can draw from dozens of blocks to create the display you want to create!
You can imagine creating a whole bunch of things, such as photo galleries of your products, a list of customer reviews, a temporary promotion, etc. It’s completely free and limited to your imagination.
The page editor is easy to use, but it requires some time to fine-tune all the details. You’ll see there are a lot of options.
Other Flatsome highlights
So far I’ve only talked about a very small part of the power of the theme. There are several other features I’d like to talk to you about, because to creating an online store is very important.
I was telling you about the SEO optimizations of the theme, but I didn’t get into the details. I was curious because I wanted to know what score the first demo page got on the PageSpeed Insights…
Knowing that the home page is very loaded with images and that WordPress is known to be rather slow, 87 is a good score. That said, on the mobile version I got a 44.
In addition to all the convenient and free features embedded with WooCommerce, Flatsome provides graphical resources such as a list of logos, PSDs and different textures.
These are useful little bonuses that are always appreciated!
What’s the price of Flatsome?
The theme is sold by the company UX-themes on Themeforest.net for $59. It’s always hard to buy a theme, but if you have a limited budget, look for free themes, there are some really good ones.
That said, Flatsome costs $59 and it’s worth it. Just look at all the possibilities that can be done with it. It’s a small investment for sure, but for an online store, it’s quickly profitable with the right strategies.
Speaking of strategy, whether you’re doing the dropshipping or traditional online commerce, SEO with WordPress is the perfect combo for this WP theme.
How to choose a good theme?
In case you would like to refine your own research, here are three questions that I personally ask myself during my projects to search for a quality theme.
- Is it responsive?
A theme’s ability to be responsive means that it fits perfectly on mobile, tablet and PC. All serious themes are developed for all formats, but some are not perfect. On my side, I check manually with my phone the demos of the themes. - Is it optimized for SEO?
It’s like blog themes, you have to make sure that the one you want to buy meets Google’s SEO standards. Concretely it means having a theme that has a logical tree structure, is powerful and compatible with Rich Snippets. - Is it customizable?
I love to design web pages and I don’t mind HTML and CSS code, but my goal is still to save time. So I make sure that the themes I select are sufficiently versatile.
After that, the rest comes on a case-by-case basis. If the feedbacks are positive and I have a good feeling about it, there is no reason for the theme to be really bad.
It’s also true for Shopify where I really like the Wokiee theme that is just as powerful!
My final opinion on Flatsome
So finally, is the WooCommerce Flatsome theme good? Does he deserve his over 100,000 sales? As you can imagine, the answer is yes! This theme deserves the 116,000 orders on Themeforest.
What I really like about Flatsome is its handy Page Builder, its many customization options and its pre-designed templates.
It breathes professionalism and the price is very affordable with all the free updates that come to feed and improve the theme that is already at the top.
Plainly speaking, you can find out right now Flatsome without risk for your WooCommerce project!
