Debutify, a standout Shopify theme designed for a high conversion rate. What is this theme worth? Let’s discover it together.
Shopify offers all the features to create an online store without getting into trouble. An email address, a brand name and a password are all you need to sign up. To start selling, you need several things:
- A plan of action
- Good products to sell
For the action plan, it all depends on the strategy you want to adopt. Facebook advertising? Partners on Instagram? Natural referencing? A mix of all these?
For good vendors, it’s already trickier. Go through a marketplace or work with artisans / small businesses? Finding reliable suppliers is also important. Concerning the good products, it will directly depend on your suppliers.
What else is missing? A good e-commerce theme. A theme that is both designed for usability, the shopping experience and of course, to make sales. A good copywriting, like a good theme will allow you to convert more visitors into buyers and therefore, more money.
There are many e-commerce themes, some are designed for beginners – like Debut – and others come with advanced features – this is the case of Debutify.
What is Debutify?
Simply put, it’s a freemium theme that comes with many, many add-ons dedicated to conversion, 54 to be exact. In addition to all the accompanying options. Let’s break it all down in detail!
Debutify is a company made up of several employees, from the developer to the designer. A solid team with a development plan for the future of Debutify. It’s serious, it gives confidence.
By the way, they also have partnerships with well-known brands in the e-commerce world. Maybe you know Cartloop? Together, they provide an offer to new users. And this is the case for many other partners, including Judge.me, Growave…
What are Debutify’s specialties?
A “flat” design
A particular theme that integrates practical features as you will see. Let’s talk about the design: a thick font, simple buttons, flashy colors, Debutify is a Shopify theme that goes to the basics.
On the demo store, the colors used are purple and a very visible green, especially with a strong light. Purple doesn’t appeal to everyone, luckily you can change it 😄
The theme is also mobile-friendly, suitable for tablet and mobile format :
Personally, I prefer the mobile view to the desktop view.
Several sections of the theme are customizable, especially regarding navigation through the menus, top and bottom. In the footer menu, other display options are available to you:
- Payment methods
- Contact information
- Social networks
- About us” section
- Newsletter section
The homepage, more precisely the automatic slider that your visitors will see first, is also customizable. This is a very important element of an e-commerce store for several reasons. It’s a simple way for your future customers to see current promotions, new products, seasonal events… A real marketing opportunity.
The warranty bar
You know this section that can be found on all known stores, it reassures visitors about the professionalism of your brand. This section consists of guarantees, usually in the form of a bar with an icon, title and a little text.
These guarantees can be :
- “Worldwide Delivery” – Order from anywhere on the planet!
- “Money back guarantee” – Problem with your product? Get your money back in 24 hours.
- “Satisfaction or your money back” – Don ‘t like your product? Return it for free!
- “24/7 Support” – Contact us any day and time of the week.
This feature is essential for any e-commerce store and often requires an additional plugin, sometimes paying. Debutify integrates it natively in the theme, customizable with more than 1,000 icons.
If there is one type of page in your store that needs to be optimized in all aspects, it is the product page. This is the page where the majority of your customers will add a product to their shopping cart and subsequently place an order.
Simple product pages provide an image gallery, a description, the price, sometimes a “similar products” module. This model is not enough to optimize the conversion rate. Over hundreds of visits, the difference will show.
Product pages with Debutify integrate more elements (framed in red on the image). Among these elements:
- The number of products in stock
- The number of visitors currently on the page
- The number of products sold in the last 24 hours
Many e-tailers decide not to display this information. It is you who decides. This information must correspond to reality to remain legal.
On this image, you see several other interesting things. The reminder of the guarantees (free delivery, satisfied or reimbursed, etc.); the estimated delivery time, very important to remain transparent with your potential customers; and the size guide for clothes:
Accordion sections are also present in these pages. There is the short description, another customizable tab and even an option to earn a promo code through sharing. Clever, I’ve never seen that before!
So far, the possibilities are tenfold compared to a normal theme found on most e-commerce CMS, including WooCommerce. Now, that’s not all. Just below all this is the long description, classic.
On the other hand, what is rarely found integrated into a theme, and requires a paid third-party installation, is the “often bought together” module. This conversion method works very well, Amazon sellers use it on many products.
The objective is to increase the final value of the cart…
Just below, the “similar products” module, natively integrated to Debutify. And finally, the customer review module that allows customers to leave a positive or negative review. The result is a complete and powerful product page!
As you can imagine if you’re in the e-commerce business, the FAQ page has a central place, just like the “About” page. Both of these pages need to be thoroughly polished. If a user doesn’t see an FAQ page on your online store, chances are he will start browsing with doubts. Even worse, if he decides to place an order but needs an answer to a question and there is no FAQ…
The template is directly proposed by Debutify :
This page is just an example. It is absolutely necessary that your FAQ page is as complete as possible. To give you an idea of questions to answer:
- When will I receive my order?
- Can I track my order?
- My order is not complete, what should I do?
- I have not received my order
- How do I return an item ?
- Are the payments secure ?
- Is my information secure ?
- What are the authorized payment methods ?
Put yourself in the shoes of the potential customer and ask yourself what doubts you might have. Before placing an order, the buyer must be confident. If he has a fear and it is not answered in your FAQ, it is not good.
How to get started with Debutify for free?
Step #1 – Sync to Shopify
Debutify is freemium, which means you can download and use the theme for free, with limitations. To start using Debutify without spending $1 sign up on this page and click on the purple button. Once you’ve registered, you just have to validate the installation on Shopify :
Once you’re done, you’ll be on the Debutify dashboard with the 14-day free trial on the Enterprise plan:
Step #2 – Install the theme
At this point, the Debutify theme is not yet installed on your Shopify store. To install it, click on “Download Theme” then “Add Theme to Library”. Before publishing, you can modify the theme as much as you want from the Shopify editor. By default, the theme uses the demo template:
Take the time to look at the different settings, the different options by familiarizing yourself with Debutify. In a short afternoon you can already have a first pro looking store without forcing too much. There are a lot of options so really, take your time 😉
Step #3 – Getting started with Debutify
Let’s go back to the Debutify dashboard, the left sidebar is the menu with the different pages. Here’s a quick look:
- Add-Ons – The page that deals with the 54 add-ons I told you about a little earlier. They are divided into 4 categories: Cart Maximizers, Conversion Triggers, Loyalty Builder, Shopping Enhancers and Shop Protectors. You can learn more about how to set up a particular feature by clicking on “Help Center” then “Add-Ons”.
- Theme Library – Theme manager, similar to the “Themes” page in Shopify. Allows you to publish changes to make them available live.
- Product Vault – A catalog of Aliexpress products with good sales performance, much like Thieve.co. Potential winning products. If you click on it, you’ll find different data about the typical audience, the interests to target, the possible margins, and even the ads related to this product.
- Marketing Masterclass – Video tutorials and courses on how to use different marketing levers. This is a nice touch from the Debutify team!
- Mentoring – A paid coaching service.
- Integrations – All partnerships between Debutify and third party services. You can get preferential offers like discounts or trial periods.
- Plans – This is the page where you will manage your subscription between free and premium plans.
Now you know everything about these pages. It can be scary at first but in the end, it’s very easy to handle. The longest part is customizing your store with your own branding.
How much does Debutify cost?
You can start using Debutify from 0€ per month. However you will have a lot of restrictions, you won’t be able to install add-ons or benefit from the support and the Product Vault. It’s a kind of package to discover the theme, to start getting your hands on it.
The 3 other packages are monthly subscriptions:
- Starter : 29$ / month (includes 5 add-ons + Product Vault in bronze level)
- Pro : 79$ / month (includes 30 add-ons + Product Vault in silver level + first part of the Masterclass)
- Enterprise: $149 / month (3 licenses + 54 add-ons + Gold level Product Vault + Masterclass)
The Enterprise package is the most complete, it’s actually the best option because it gives 3 licenses instead of 1. The most popular one is the Pro package, an intermediate between the $29/month and the $149/month one.
What do I think of Debutify?
It’s a good theme and in general, the team has done a great job to offer a complete package: customizable theme, add-ons, marketing and e-commerce training, support… Even a Facebook group is available to all users of the theme. The entrance is free.
The biggest strength and you can imagine it, are the add-ons that allow you to integrate advanced features natively, without going through third-party Shopify applications. The advantage is that there are no compatibility issues and the features integrate perfectly with the store design.
There is even an add-on to display a cookie bar, something that often requires a small investment of 1 to 2€ per month. And if you add up all the add-ons included, the price is still right.
My opinion remains positive: it’s a very good, fast, ergonomic and fluid theme, but it’s not dedicated to beginners. Paying $149 per month is something that only pros in the industry can afford, that’s a real budget in itself!
Customer reviews are also very positive. Debutify theme accumulates over 6,600 positive reviews on Trustpilot with an average rating of 4.8/5.
You are free to use Debutify or not. If you do, you can take advantage of the 14-day trial period right now and then either upgrade to the free version or choose one of the 3 paid packages depending on what you need.
The difference between a free theme like Venture or Brooklyn and Debutify is in all the extras offered. Add-ons, training, etc. That’s how you can tell a serious theme company with high ambitions!
