Are you looking for a quick and easy solution to create ebook covers? With Beacon, no more headaches and long thoughts!
If you’re not deeply inspired or a graphic designer, it’s always very complicated to create an ebook. At least the way readers will see it.
Especially since there are not many easy-to-use tools on the market…
Photoshop ? Flippa ? No, it’s already too complicated for someone who only sets foot there twice a month!
Today, I’m going to introduce you to Beacon, a web application entirely dedicated to Lead Magnet creation with pre-designed templates, a creation interface and much more.
But before what is a lead magnet?
In the blogging world, but also in marketing in general, a lead magnet is a gift, a bonus that you will give to your visitors in exchange for, for example, their e-mail address.
This is one of the most used methods to build a list of qualified contacts.
Often, this lead magnet – which literally translates to lead magnet – is a digital book, ebook or white paper. It is not necessarily mandatory, in fact, you can offer just about anything.
As long as your audience is interested:
- A complete guide ;
- A premium access ;
- A useful resource ;
- A coupon code.
That’s why it’s so important to implement this kind of lead generation strategy. For example, you can set up a non-intrusive popup to entice your readers to exchange their email address for a guide they will find useful.
It is therefore usable for an e-commerce store, a WordPress site, a Podia site or on social networks.
Beacon – The tool to create ebooks quickly
I’ve used Beacon several times in the past mainly to create visuals for ebooks and you’ll see, it’s really easy to use.
So we’ll see right away. Once registered, you’ll find yourself on the management interface:
The top box shows the number of leads and the conversion rate simply because Beacon integrates a popup system.
Below, we have the different ebooks created with the possibility of publishing them, editing them and globally doing the usual tasks: renaming, deleting, etc.
How do I create a lead magnet with Beacon?
#1. Choose the model and give it a name
The first step to create a lead magnet is to click Create New and then Lead Magnet. You then find yourself in front of 6 options, each of which corresponds to a type of file :
- Blank file
In most situations you need an ebook, so let’s go to option 2. Beacon offers you to import content from your blog, this can be a good way to create an ebook quickly. I choose No and continue.
A particularly interesting moment comes when you select the template for your future ebook. You can of course change it as you wish afterwards:
Lots of choices and lots of template themes!
For my part, I really like the first one in orange, it corresponds to my sector of activity. I select it to create my ebook. Then finally, the last step before the creation is to give it a name.
#2. Edit pages
We finally arrive at the editing tool that allows us to write text, import images, modify frames and much more.
I had chosen the first template, Beacon released the template with a total of 7 demo pages:
The tool allows us to add and remove pages. It also allows us to modify each page to integrate the content of our ebook.
It’s very simple and intuitive. You want a title? Just go to the Drag and Drop section and drag and drop a title. Do you want a button? Same thing!
Among the elements that can be added to the pages I can quote…
- The images
- The image galleries
- A table of contents, a summary
- Sharing buttons
After that, that’s not all. You can change the page settings via the Page Settings section. Beacon gives us the choice to change the dominant colors, the spacing and whether or not to activate the header and footer.
In short the editor is really easy to use, everything is indicated by icons!
#3. Publish the lead magnet
In only 3 steps, we were able to create an ebook. Now we have to publish it. To do this, just click on the Publish button in the top menu and there you have several possibilities.
The first two are the most useful in my opinion: download in PDF or create a link to access the content. The other choices use Beacon’s built-in features.
To avoid being too dependent, I still advise you to opt for plugins or third party solutions because you’ll be able to do more in the end.
I chose the Smart PDF option to get a link that I will share for example in my email campaigns.
One nice thing is that you can integrate Google Analytics tracking or other scripts to track how users interact with the ebook.
I click on the button to validate and the link is generated:
This link is the one you will share with your prospects. They will click and fall on the Smart PDF.
Beacon in premium version
Everything I just did is thanks to the free version. It’s very good and already allows me to do a good job. About half of the features are blocked.
To unblock them, moving to a higher plane will allow you to:
- Access all templates ;
- Remove the Beacon badge from the Smart PDF ;
- Have a personalized ;
- Create your own templates ;
- Take advantage of email marketing integration;
- Have a team account.
To have all this, two rates are put forward. The first is the professional offer at 49$ per month, or 43€ and the second is the agency offer at 99$ per month.
I really think it’s worth taking a premium plan only if you’re going to take advantage of all the internal Beacon integrations.
To conclude in a few words
My opinion on Beacon is very positive because I was used to using Canva before, which is not perfectly suited for creating lead magnets.
The free version will be sufficient in most cases and by paying, you unlock the full potential of the tool.
Templates are a real time-saver for those who have trouble with the design side. The editing interface is once again ergonomic and practical to use.
There you go, you just have to try Beacon. Don’t hesitate to tell me what you think in the comments under this article!
